Is Allah Some Strange Deity?

October 20, 2014

Who is Allah? I think that scholars have made this very clear, but I feel the need to write about the Name as well. Whenever we hear about Allah in the media or books, some people want us to think that Allah is only the God of Muslims. On the other side, Muslims keep saying: “Allah is our God, but He is the God of all humanity.” Their argument appears to be falling on deaf ears. So, what is the truth?

I think the simplest way to explain this is to have you listen Christians who are native Arabic speakers. In the Arabic Bible, God is stated as “Allah.” And, I found a video on youtube that shows Arab Christians singing. In the video below, pay attention to the singer at 0:38 when she says “Oh, God” and it will be clear to you that the Holy Name Allah in Arabic language just means: The God. For Arab Christians, He is the “Father” God. For Muslims He is the One and Only God. For more scholarly explanation, please see my post about valuable resources and websites to consider.

“Ya, Allah” in Arabic language means “Oh, God!”
