August 31, 2014

What does “Qur’an” Mean?

It means: “that which is recited” or “Recitation.”

How Many Chapters, Verses, Words Does the Qur’an Have?

114 Surahs (chapters)

6226 ayats (verses)

99,464 words

If Non-Muslims Burned All Qur’ans In Print….

It would be very easy to retrieve all of it. Why? Well, pious Muslim people—young and old– work hard to memorize all 114 surahs (chapters), 6236 verses (ayats) of the Noble Book. There are estimated over a million Muslims world wide, some even children, who have completely memorized the Noble Qur’an. In general, each ordinary Muslim knows from memory at least 10 chapters from the Qur’an, in addition to various extra supplications.

Muslim believers are promised that they will receive 10 rewards for EVERY letter read of the Noble Qur’an!

What is the Start of Each Chapter of The Qur’an?

113 Surahs start with “Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim” which translate to: “In the Name of God Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.” Muslims are to use this verse in all the allowed (halal) work they do, such as eating, leaving the house, driving a car, doing homework, etc.

Only one surah, surah Al-Tauba (Repetenance), does not begin with the verse. This surah (chapter) in itself is a supplication for God’s Mercy.
